Fall Home & Style Wish List

Fall is ALLLLLLLMOST upon us up here in Utah and it's glorious!!!!  Seriously, I cannot wait for layers and booties and hot chocolate and open windows!  A true fall season!  Something we aren't used to and I personally feel giddy just thinking of it!  I put together a few things that I've either had my eye on (that camel sweater) or that just give me all the warm-fuzzies about our soon-to-be autumn.  Bring IT ON!!!

Summer-to-Fall Transition Piece | Velvet Top

Currently I'm sitting in a hotel room at the half-way point through our family's vacation.  I had remembered that I never posted about my new velvet top I was so stoked about.  One may think (and may be correct in assuming) that velvet is only for cooler weather.  I thought that too...until I wore this top.  It's lined and surprisingly breezy, lending itself to being a great transition piece from summer into fall.  I comes in a variety of colors, including midnight blue as well as this mauve I'm wearing.  I like it so much!

Once home from our trip, I'll be sure to post all the highlights and some travel tips from the places we've been.  Just to give you a little snippet...today, we rode the Maid of the Mist boat at Niagara Falls and the kids LOVED it!  So did I, but it was especially fun getting to watch their faces in awe.  I hope you all are enjoying your first week of August.  Summer is winding down and it doesn't quite seem fair.  Here's to cherishing these last several weeks before school starts back!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Update | High-Low Wrap Tunic

Some of my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale purchases came in and I'm loving what I got!  For the most part, the sizes fit but I'll be making some exchanges soon.  I bought several tops that are a bit out of the everyday-wear category...meaning ruffles, high-low, big sleeves, etc....and I LOVE them!  I wore this oversized bow shirt to church yesterday and this high-low wrap tunic (plenty of sizes still available) to our family birthday celebration.  It's lightweight and easy to wear with skinny jeans (as shown) or leggings or even over a fitted pencil skirt!!!

Back-To-School Outfits & Goals

Goodness, this summer is flying by!  How is it already time for school supplies, school clothes, and all that is "back-to-school"?!? This time of year we always start thinking of what we want to accomplish for ourselves and as a family in the coming school year.  Setting goals (and writing them down) are not only beneficial for our own growth, but can also strengthen family bonds as we cheer eachother on!
I sat down with each of my kids the other day and we talked about their school-year goals.  Their responses were such a perfect representation of who they are and the young people they're becoming!  Check out our goals below:

Bennett - To learn more math and science so he can build a lightsaber
Blakely - To create inventions
Riley - To begin and complete "The Order of the Phoenix" (Harry Potter) by Christmas
Tyler Bree - To become an expert on weather
And last but (hopefully) not least....
Me - To keep my home clean on a regular basis to allow for increased harmony and order (wishful thinking?)

And as far as the school-prep goes, one of my kids' favorite parts is getting new school clothes!  (Doesn't everyone?)  I love the back-to-school looks Gymboree sent each one of my kids...they're a perfect fit and look for the first day of school!  Not only are Gymboree's clothes great quality, but they can be worn for all sorts of occasions, dressed up or down or for play!!  And what's even better is that most of these styles are all on SALE!  I've made each one of their looks easy to shop by linking to the exact piece...and if I'm playing favorites (which I try not to do), I must say that I LOVE Tyler Bree and Bennett's outfits, and especially all the adorable shoes my kids are sporting!  While I'm not quite ready for summer to end, there's just something about back-to-school, isn't there?

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale | First Look

Happy Thursday Friends!!!  I've been waiting for this day for a while now...it's the first day of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (Early Access)!!!!  If you're a card holder, you can shop the huge sale starting today!  If not, hang in there for a few more days and it's open to the public.  This is the BEST sale of the year hands down, as there are so many steals and deals on clothes/shoes for the next season (not has-been or last seasons stuff)!!!

Summer Gingham | Smart Style

Happy Hump Day friends!!!  Gosh this week is flying by, and it is O-K-A-Y by me!  Summer can't get here fast enough.  I'm not too excited about the heat, but not being on a schedule with the kids is going to be heavenly!!!

One thing I love about summer is how gingham is EVERYWHERE right now!  I've seen it in skirts, tops, and even shoes.  This checkered trend can be styled in so many different ways, like this ruffled-sleeve gingham top I'm wearing.  I cannot wait to mix up this top dressy and casual...it's super chic (did you notice the neck cut-out?) and light enough fabric for the summer months.

Shoe Edit: 8 Must Haves for Summer

It's pretty hard to be believe summer style is already on the mind, but friends let me tell ya'...here in Texas, summer starts right about now.  When it's scorching hot, sometimes we tend to just reach for the easy footwear like flip-flops (guilty here), but there are loads of other cute options that are just as cool and easy.  Okay well...maybe not as easy as flip-flops, but definitely more stylish and will up your outfit a few notches.
While normally when I do a "must-have" or round-up list, I usually own most of the items already...and thus can recommend them because I know for a fact that they're pretty great.  But this time around, I only have two of the below must-have shoes for the summer (no. 2 and 6) and am deciding on which of the others I need to get first.  You really can't go wrong with a classic espadrille, a strappy black heel, and a casual sandal for summer...but here are a full EIGHT pairs that I'm in love with for Summer of 2017!

Happy Friday friends!!!  Are you ready for the weekend???  This week seemed to fly by, as does this vague time in January.  It's after the holidays, a sense of routine and normalcy has returned...and I feel we're in that "no-man's-land" of the beginning of the year.  Anyone know what I mean?  I think we all do best when we have something to look forward to...whether that's the next holiday, a vacation, a pedicure, or what have you.  That's where I am right now...in-between things to look forward to and I just need to set some goals for myself. ;)

I think I'll put together a goal post soon, but for today, I want to share this darling J.Crew top my momma gave me for Christmas.  I've had my eye on it and loved when I tried it on and it fit!!!  Not fit meaning the right size, but fit as in layed right and didn't look too boxy.  Right now, it's 20% off at both Nordstrom and at J. Crew.  I styled it with simple skinny jeans, but am looking for a pink or navy pencil skirt to pair it with...Lots of possibilities for this top!!!

Trend Alert | Striped Poncho + Cyber Week Deals

Happy Thanksgiving Eve Friends!!!!  Are you ready for some good eating and family time tomorrow?  I sure am!  I'm also excited about doing a little shopping!  Not only do I have my eye on some of the Black Friday deals, but also Cyber Monday and Small Business Saturday.   One of our great small businesses here in Texas is the Stitch Shoppe along with Lavish Leathers (I'm wearing pieces from both in this look).  I love supporting small businesses, but especially women who are girl-bossing it like a....well, like a Boss!

Trend Report | Buffalo Plaid

I am just LOVING all this buffalo plaid EVERYWHERE!  It's the kind of pattern that really is only seasonally appropriate for fall/winter, and this next week with Cyber Week and Black Friday, is the PERFECT time to snag some of this great pattern on discount!  I'm especially crushing on the scarves, jackets, and vests I've spotlight below...great accent pieces and so ideal for bringing some cozyness into your look.

Fall Floral + Denim

I'm a sucker for a good fall floral.  I'm not huge on the Spring and Summer floral patterns (the light colors), but give me a dark hue with some muted jewel tones and I'm sold!!!!  This dress being exhibit A.  In addition to the perfect pattern, this long-sleeve, midi style can be worn with so much!!!  Think fur vest, cardigans, scarfs, denim vest, belted, with tights....and the list could go on!!!  This one is from Roolee Boutique (and is sold out), but I've also linked several similar styles at the end of this post.  A definite must-have for your fall/winter style!

Current Sales Styles {All Under $50}

If you follow my Facebook page, you might have seen where I talked about shopping this time of year.  I feel like we're in that in-between period...no longer back-to-school shopping, but not yet quite full-blown holiday shopping.  Yet, my kids have seemed to hit a growth spurt recently and this momma is discovering some "holes" in her closet....thus, some shopping is warranted.
For the kiddos, Old Navy and Children's Place are running some good deals right now.  As for me (and my all lady friends), there are some amazing deals and steals for fall clothing.  October isn't normally a big sale month, but I've come across these cute, on-trend, and versatile pieces (below) for all under $50!  Some are limited on sizing, but always check back if stores are out-of-stock...lots of times they'll restock a popular item.  I have my eye on that red plaid top (Madewell), and I already own #5 and #8 which I can vouch for their quality and function!  Happy shopping friends and have a great rest of the week!!!

My Favorite Fall Top

My style lately has pretty much consisted of these flowy tunic tops.  I mean, they're everything.  Comfy.  Cute.  Stylish.  And you can eat 5 burritos and no one will be the wiser.  I'm trying to find track down every variation of this style I can find...so far I'm up to 3 (and maybe I should stop there).  But man, they sell out fast!  I've seen them at Brooks & Co., Jane, and Shop Fancy Free. 

And mark my words friends, I will wear this trend out.  Try it.  You won't be able to quit.  Promise.  You're welcome.
