Diaper Drive

A couple of years back, I read in a magazine article that many babies in poverty or from needy families often have to wear ONE diaper for an entire day.  This article also explained how WIC and welfare usually do not cover diapers.  I was appalled to learn this, as it is inexcusable for a baby to have to sit in a dirty diaper for that long.  It makes me slightly sick to my stomach even thinking about it.

So, I was motivated to do what I could to help needy mothers and babies, and therefore, set up a diaper drive for our area which benefited a local women's shelter.  This year I am doing it again, but also including my children.  I feel like my older two girls are at a point where they can not only understand that there are those not as fortunate as them, but can also play a part in serving others in need.  In addition to diaper donations, this weekend my girls will have a bake sale of goodies they helped make, and the money will go to buying diapers and wipes.

I feel very blessed to be able to help out in this manner, but know that there are so many more needy families than those in our reach.  If you'd like to contribute or donate, please contact me personally.  I plan to make the donation at the end of the month.  I hope that others may be inspired to serve those in need in whatever capacity of which they are capable.
