Reinventing the Old

The other day our family went to a Celtic festival and one of the booths was selling  puzzle rings.

It made me remember one I had as a child, which brought up a thought about all the old jewelry I have in a jewelry box tucked away in a corner of my closet.

It's so nostalgic to rummage through keepsakes and the memories that accompany them.

I came across this spoon ring that I was given when I was about 7 or 9 years old, and it shined up pretty nicely.
I think I'll start wearing it again.

I also found this braided leather bracelet with my name stamped on it.  I don't remember wearing it too much back then, but now it would look cute stacked with some other eclectic bangles.

My mother got my two oldest girls some charms recently that she intends to put on a charm bracelet for them.  I had to get out mine to show the girls how one is supposed to look once you collect more charms.

She had given me her old charm bracelet to which I added my own.
You can see the majorette and track charms of hers...along with the cheerleading, piano, turtle, Texas Tech, etc. charms of mine.  I don't wear this often, as it means a lot to me, and I would die if the old clasp broke and something happened to it.

Aren't memories of jewelry fun?

Does anyone else go through their old stuff from time to time and make things "new to them" again?

If you haven't yet, I challenge you to find a piece to reinvent into your repertoire of jewelry.

Just make sure you have a good polishing rag and some time on your hands.
