Some friends of mine started a bimonthly get together this past week. We're calling it a "bookclub" but really, who are we kidding? It's plain and simple an opportunity to get dressed up, eat a fabulous luncheon, and chat. And if we happen to read some books along the way...great. I can't wait for it to be my turn so I can use my china and make some really pretentious food that my husband would never eat.
I've talked before about my bookclub that I've been a part of for years. This is now a bookclub only by name and to distinguish who is actually involved. About a year ago, after no one really reading (or caring about) the books, we evolved into a game night/girls night of sorts.
Female relationships are so important in my life and I feel so blessed to have such diverse groups of girlfriends. They get me in a way most people don't. Having a sometimes hectic life with our four kids, it can be difficult to foster those friendships as well as I should, but I'm always so thankful when I do.
