If you've never been to Gruene, Texas...
It's a little river town that hosts a legendary dance hall (Gruene Hall, anyone?), unique shops and boutiques, B&Bs, and probably the best tubing in central Texas. I practically grew up at Gruene Hall watching my uncle's band play (said uncle now plays bass for Robert Earl Keen). I have great memories there of two-stepping with my daddy and playing with my cousins.
Some of my family now lives in the growing town, facilitating the perfect place in which to have my grandmother's 80th birthday party. We celebrated at a winery called The Vineyard at Gruene and had a lovely time.
This side of my family (my dad's) is quite musical. My cousins sang some of my grandmother's favorite songs for her...
And my daughter and cousin were thoroughly entertained by it, as we all were.
If you're ever down in central Texas, I highly suggest visiting the hopping little town of Gruene. If nothing else, go into Gruene Hall so you can say you've been there....
You might even walk into George Strait, Pat Green, or Merle Haggard.
Actually, it happens to me
I'm staying hopeful.
I will be there this weekend for some fun :). Can you tell I'm finally reading blogs again? Good to catch up with you!!
