The Best Of Friday Style {Platinum Edition}

Hey friends...Happy Friday!!!

This week, I wanted to change it up a little bit with the BEST OF...and rather than feature my favorites of a certain style/trend, I decided to spotlight hair...Platinum Hair, that is.  Obviously, I'm a fan of it.  I mean, I've had more hair styles and colors than I can even count, but my all-time favorite has been platinum...which is why I've stuck with it this long.  (Btw, my hair dresser is just waiting for me to come in and be like...Okay, I'm ready to go chocolate brown....which just FYI, does NOT suit me well.)

Going platinum is a lifestyle decision.  It's not like getting highlights or touching up a darker color every 8 weeks...it's full-out maintenance every single day, whether that involves deep conditioning, special shampooing, heat protection, root touch-ups at the salon, or trying to make your wash last more than 2 days (oily hair girl right here!).

All four of these ladies do platinum with perfection...it's not brassy, they style it to suit their personality, and most importantly, they don't resemble Playmates (which is a risk you take with platinum....only kinda kidding).

Some tips I've learned about keeping my platinum hair healthy and looking "white-ish" that might help ya' out if you're thinking of going in that direction:

>>>Clairol Shimmer Lights is the bomb-diggity.  In my option, the best purple shampoo out there.  It kinda smells like an old woman, but whatev.
>>>Dry Shampoo is your best friend since you want to wash your hair as little as possible to prevent breakage and heat damage.
>>>Try not to go more than 6 weeks between root touch ups.  My natural hair color isn't that dark (mousy light brown), but against that platinum, it might as well be black...and grown out more than an inch just looks trashy.  Upkeep is a must.

What do you think of Platinum Hair???

  1. I think platinum looks so good on you. I think it gets harder to pull off as you get older. I do like gray hair on many women. I add some color with foils to my hair now.

  2. Oh gosh platinum... it looks incredible on you!! Seriously... love your hair! Me... I'd be scared to death to do it!! Seriously seriously scared... I've never gone lighter only darker. I have seriously considered putting a huge streak of platinum in my hair though... kinda of Rouge-ish from X-Men... yeah weird reference haha but it works!

    1. I can't imagine you as a blonde either....but I wish I could pull of the dark brown like yours. I've tried it and I most definitely cannot. :)

  6. I wanted to be blonde as a kid but I have grown to really like my dark hair. I cannot imagine the insane amount of maintenance it would take for me to keep a platinum look going. I would be at the salon every day!

  7. Love platinum hair! Would never do it to my own locks (well, maybe not never...) but totally love seeing women who wear it well!
